The Features of Double-End Face Grinder

November 20,2021

In recent years, with the rapid development of industrial production and science and technology, various cemented carbide, cermet, non-metal ceramic blades, small seals and precision steel parts have more and more requirements for shape and size accuracy, production efficiency, etc.

Double-face grinders are one type of end-face grinders. Since the first end-face grinder was manufactured in the United States in 1912, after more than a century of development, the double-face grinder has made great progress in terms of performance and structure. Auto parts manufacturing, internal combustion engine and other industries are widely used.

The end face grinder is high-precision end face processing equipment with a high-strength mechanical structure and stable accuracy.

The double end face grinder has the following features:

1. High efficiency: Double end face grinding can complete the processing of two parallel end faces at one time, which reduces one procedure and eliminates the auxiliary time between procedures. In addition, because the workpiece allowance is gradually removed during the grinding process, the larger machining allowance of the double-end face grinding is much larger than that of other grinding machines, and the machining allowance that can be removed only by several steps of other grinding machines can be removed at a time.

2. High machining accuracy: For a long time, the grinding method of the end face of the workpiece has mostly been through-type grinding or single-head surface grinding. These two grinding methods have high production efficiency and low production cost, but the end face of the workpiece has a general dimensional accuracy. The double-end face grinding uses the rotary or linear feeder to upper and lower the workpiece, and the dimensional accuracy and geometric accuracy of the double-end face of the workpiece can reach P2 and above, and the precision of the workpiece is significantly higher than the two commonly used grinding methods.

3. High degree of automation: Double end grinders are often used for stable production of large quantities of workpieces. Generally, they have automatic compensation functions and can be equipped with automatic loading and unloading devices to reduce manual loading and unloading of workpieces. Double-end face grinders are mostly controlled by a numerical control system, which greatly reduces labor intensity and reduces the impact caused by manual operation, so that the processing quality is stable and the workpiece consistency is good.

4. Wide range of applications: the workpiece is restricted by the feeding tray in the horizontal direction and by the upper and lower grinding wheels in the vertical direction. This positioning method is not limited by the material of the workpiece, thus broadening the application range of the machine tool. In addition to the processing of steel parts such as bearing rings and piston rings, and iron castings, it is also widely used in non-magnetic materials such as mobile phone screens and Processing of non-metallic materials.
